Smooth, peppery potato soup tastes like “fresh bright green” with fennel seeds and leeks. Discovered by Chef Mark Reinfled of Blossoming Lotus, HI (http://www.blossominglotus.com)

[Reported by Alana Greenberg, an Ayurvedic Student from Santa Fe, NM.]

Ayurveda Notes (help)
Potatoes can provoke vata but are much less aggravating for Kapha than other starches because of astringent quality. Red pepper flakes aggravate pitta but pacify kapha. Substitute black pepper to make this dish more tridoshic.

Dosha: Vata= Pitta= Kapha= (Pitta+ if excess red pepper flakes)
Quality: Heavy, Liquid, Sharp
Taste: Sweet, Astringent, Pungent
