Cilantro, Chili Powder, Anise and Onion Mexican Spice Mix

In downtown Chicago, experiment with a simple, stimulating, red spice mix found in various dishes including Chorizo with Eggs. Served at Flo Café & Bar (http://www.eatatflo.com) Discovered on New Year’s Eve after a long, 14 hour drive from New York City to Chicago.

Ayurveda Notes (help)
Add more cilantro to keep in pitta in check and balance heating chili powder. In Kapha, use less oil to keep the spice mix light.

Dosha: Vata- Pitta+ Kapha-
Qualities: Heating, Sharp
Tastes: Pungent, Bitter

Recipe - (Help with Cooking)
¼ onion, chopped
¼ c chopped cilantro
¼ tsp chili powder

Fry onion in a tablespoon of oil. When translucent, add cilantro and spices. Continue frying for thirty seconds before adding to your favorite dish.
