Introduction to an Ayurvedic Diet |
10 Good Eating Habits | Eat Slowly with Contemplation on the Food
Ayurveda recommends concentration on the taste of food while eating. Eating unconciously causes poor food choices and portions. Avoid other activities while eating such as walking, driving, watching TV, or talking. In general, Ayurveda avoids multi-tasking. Any activity redirects blood from digestion into other organs.
Eating food slowly also gives the following benefits
- Encourages thorough chewing
- Give taste buds and the nose a chance to decipher what's been eaten.
- Helps regulate portion size by giving cravings a chance to catch up.
