Unless a person eats a large amount of fiber, Ayurveda suggests that normally a person will have 1-2 bowel movements per day. 3 or more bowel movements per day could be a sign of malabsorption of nutrients from food resulting from weak digestion. Frequent bowel movements can cause significant loss of electrolytes, draining your energy and sapping your vitality.

Frequent bowel movements may be a sign your bowels are irritated. You may also experience frequent bowel movements before a stressful event, such as performing in front of a large group.

The ideal stool resembles a banana in size and shape, with a deep brown color that it neither too light nor too dark.
