Bronchitis

Written by John Immel, Asheville, NC
Bronchitis eventually scars lung tissue, and can result in asthma, reduced immunity, and allergies to airborne allergens. Chronic lunch infections must be cleared once Kapha is pacified. The lungs may be affected by excessive cold, dryness & irritation, phlegm, & toxicity.

Disclaimer: 'Bronchitis' could be serious and should be checked by a medical doctor.

Aggravated Doshas & Qualities

Symptoms Tell A Story

The first step to healing is learning patterns from your symptoms. Symptoms are clues that reveal underlying imbalances, showing you where your body is weak. Specifically, they reveal the doshas & qualities that may have become aggravated. If you notice a quality or dosha appears next to many of your symptoms, it helps you establish a pattern that may be systemic.

One or more of the following doshas and qualities may be aggravated. If you have a systemic imbalance of one of these doshas or qualities, Ayurveda would generally recommend avoiding foods and lifestyle habits with that quality.

Stage of Disease: 4 - Tissue Degeneration

If you have symptoms in this category it means your imbalances have overwhelmed your body's resistance causing a full-fledged disease. Once imbalance reaches this stage it is more likely to cause acute or chronic conditions. You might be tempted to focus your attention on fighting diseases in this category, but dismiss earlier warning signs of imbalance. Ayurveda emphasizes healthy diet and lifestyle choices to restore balance. The preventative approach suggests you pay careful attention to every stage of disease development.

Hi! Im recovering from a master cleanse and Bronchitis..coughing up white mucky looking stuff mostly in morning although it can happen less often during day and evening. It is slowly improving. Im Vata (in triple Vata with age and season/Pita with a hair of Kapha and wonder what is the best combo of kitchari for this? Just starting to eat regular food again and transitioned to Vata reducing kitchari which feels wonderful. What things can I adjust to help with the lung congestion and phlegm in general? Thanks, Nan
