Irregular/small appetite Ayurvedic PerspectivesWrite a review!
Written by John Joseph Immel, Asheville, NC
The appetite is often small when there is Insufficient acid production in the stomach. This may be due to chronic dehydration. In that case, drink a glass of warm water with a pinch of salt and a wedge of lime a half hour before meals to rehydrate your body. Atrophic gastritis is a gradual loss of stomach function due to chronic inflammation, which may be secondary to H pylori or other parasitic infections. Constipation, gas and bloating can also ruin your appetite. Eating on a regular schedule generally improves appetite.

Aggravated Doshas & Qualities

Symptoms Tell A Story

The first step to healing is learning patterns from your symptoms. Symptoms are clues that reveal underlying imbalances, showing you where your body is weak. Specifically, they reveal the doshas & qualities that may have become aggravated. If you notice a quality or dosha appears next to many of your symptoms, it helps you establish a pattern that may be systemic.

Irregular/small appetite indicates one or more of the following doshas and qualities are imbalanced:

Vata aggravatingDryDifficultColdAstringent

Key: V = Vata, P = Pitta, K = Kapha. A slash through a dosha means it an aggravated dosha. To learn more about the symbols above, click on them.

Stage of Disease: 2 - Affecting Blood

If you have symptoms in this category it means that imbalance is weakening your system but hasn't yet become systemic.
