Modern life is full of responsibilities. Many people are trying to make a living, maintain a home, a relationship, and raise children all at the same time. And sometimes, it all feels like too much. Feeling overwhelmed is related to vata dosha, the constitution that doesn't have quite enough energy to get it all done. The paradox is that vata is multi-faceted and creative, which attracts them to many different projects, ideas, and as well as family. All constitutions can feel overwhelmed. In Ayurveda, that is translated as high vata. Just not quite enough energy to get everything done, coupled with an emotional response to a heavy burden. Feeling overwhelmed for long periods of time can trigger anxiety, panic attacks, or melt-downs. They are simply a sing that it's time to slow down.
Kapha constitutions will feel mentally overwhelmed when their body is overburdened with heavy foods. Poor circulation, and slow metabolism contribute to this sense of overwhelm, especially within 48 hrs of eating Kapha provoking foods.
ARE YOU NEW TO AYURVEDA?
Are you wondering what Ayurveda is and how to use it for 'Overwhelmed by responsibilities' and health in general?
Symptoms Tell A StoryThe first step to healing is learning patterns from your symptoms. Symptoms are clues that reveal underlying imbalances, showing you where your body is weak. Specifically, they reveal the doshas & qualities that may have become aggravated. If you notice a quality or dosha appears next to many of your symptoms, it helps you establish a pattern that may be systemic.

On Joyful Belly, we've created an extensive categorization of food in relation to qualities (gunas). By eating an optimal diet that balances your gunas, your whole body is strengthened and the conditions that created the disorder are removed. Once the root causes of the disease are removed, the disease lessens in strength or disappears altogether. Additional remedies - such as herbs and lifestyle practices - focused on the specific disorder, can greatly enhance your healing.
