Rabbit pellet / Hard lumpy stool Ayurvedic Perspectives

Rabbit pellet / Hard lumpy stool (Scybalous Stools)

Written by John Immel, Asheville, NC
Small, hard stool indicates either dryness in the colon or that the stool is sitting in the colon for too long. Hard, dry stools are considered to be a sign of constipation. When stool sits in the colon too long, it begins to rot. The rotting stool continues to be absorbed into the bloodstream, poisoning the blood. When the blood is poisoned, your skin loses its luster, becoming gray, pale and lifeless. Your teeth may become gray as well. Hard stool with gas is considered to be a sign of heat and dryness. Hard stool without gas is considered to be a sign of coldness.

Aggravated Doshas & Qualities

Symptoms Tell A Story

The first step to healing is learning patterns from your symptoms. Symptoms are clues that reveal underlying imbalances, showing you where your body is weak. Specifically, they reveal the doshas & qualities that may have become aggravated. If you notice a quality or dosha appears next to many of your symptoms, it helps you establish a pattern that may be systemic.

One or more of the following doshas and qualities may be aggravated. If you have a systemic imbalance of one of these doshas or qualities, Ayurveda would generally recommend avoiding foods and lifestyle habits with that quality.
