Unless a person eats a large amount of fiber, Ayurveda suggests that one should aim 1-2 bowel movements per day. Three or more bowel movements per day could lead to malabsorption of nutrients from food. Frequent bowel movements can cause significant loss of electrolytes. Weak digestion could lead to poor absorption and bulkier stools as well. When your bowels are irritated, they could prematurely eject. You may experience frequent bowel movements before a stressful event, such as performing in front of a large group.

The ideal stool resembles a banana in size and shape, with a deep brown color that it neither too light nor too dark.
