Therapeutic Benefits of Essential Oils

There are extensive uses for essential oils. Browse through our selection to see which oils would be best for you, and get creative with your remedies! Incorporate oils to feel awakened, energized, vibrant, calm, relaxed, at ease, improve digestion, metabolism and more. Each oil has a description of its benefits. Or you may search for the symptom from which you seek relief.

As a Perfume

Essential oils may be worn as an herbal therapeutic disguised as an aromatic perfume. This is one method of use if you have a systemic or emotional problem like sluggish lymph, anxiety, foggy mind, insomnia, or a truly endless number of other issues. Simply cover the opening of your essential oil of choice with your finger, turn it upside down and apply the small amount (about 1/2 of a drop, if that can be measured!) to your artery at the wrist. This is a pathway that allows the oil to absorb through your skin directly into your bloodstream and be carried to the desired location.

As a Mist

For emotional issues of anxiety, depression, nervousness, stress, and panic, mist is a quick and effective medicine. It's easy to make a spray- choose your essential oil, fill a 4oz spray bottle with purified water and add up to 40 total drops of your oil of choice (or blend of several!). Put the top on, shake well, and you're finished. Use as needed by misting your face or space around you. Take a deep breath. And feel a little bit better.

As a Massage Oil

Make a massage oil for daily use by adding 10-15 drops per ounce to an oil of your choice. Some wonderful options are Sesame, Coconut, Sunflower, and Sweet Almond. Take a look at How to Use Massage Oils to learn which Carrier Oils are the best medicine for each Dosha.

Therapeutic Uses

Here are a few examples of uses of common essential oils. You can buy some of these essential oils in the Joyful Belly Store.

  • Cypress Calming emotionally and great as a men's aftershave. Make a mist for both!
  • Lavender Muscle pain, skin conditions, and relaxation. Make a massage oil.
  • Rosemary Sluggish circulation. Use a perfume or massage oil for this effect.
