Proteins & Food CravingsSugar cravings are often a masked craving for proteins. Increasing protein intake can reduce sugar cravings. January and February are the easiest times of year to be vegetarian. October is the hardest. One should generally eat 1 cup of greens to every 1/4c of animal protein.
Protein DigestionProteins are digested primarily in the stomach, where acids denature the proteins. The pancreas also produces enzymes that further break down the proteins. People who have trouble digesting beans often have low acid levels in the stomach.
Aromatic taste most directly improves protein digestion and metabolism in the body. Aromatic taste activates the stomach. Aromatic taste also brings blood flood to the extremities, including the muscles of the arms and legs, which may be starved for blood in wintertime.
