Remedy For Poison Ivy

If you've been romping in the woods this summer, you may have have stumbled upon an age old summer nemesis, poison ivy. For days following your fated encounter, you are miserable, itchy and stinging. What started as a harmless summer adventure has taken a u-turn. What to do!?

In Ayurveda, poison ivy is a 'wet rash' - pitta and kapha in nature. Remedies will thus be cool and dry. Cilantro is a drying refrigerant with anti-inflammatory qualities. It is quite detoxifying and can be used both internally and topically for rashes. In fact, it works best when you do both at the same time!

Cilantro has anti-histamine, meaning it directly calms the immune system. It is a traditional remedy for rashes like summer poison-ivy, allergy related hives, or even just a sunburn.
