Schedule & Format

This 24 month program is entirely online, and does not require any travel. Class starts end of August, with 14 holiday weeks and summer break per year. Students should expect to spend 4-6 hours a week in study, on average.

Sanskrit

The sanskrit module will give you a greater facility reading both ancient and modern textbooks. As classical texts were written in Sanskrit, and modern Ayurvedic authors frequently use sanskrit terms, this module is essential. It includes
  • Sanskrit medical vocabulary, and other common vocabulary
  • How to read transliterated Sanskrit
  • Common word formations, and what to expect regarding the joining of words and letters
  • Common prefixes, suffixes, and other basic tips that will make reading transliterated sanskrit much easier.

Marma Points & Body Awareness Exercises

Supplement your study of Ayurvedic spa methods with in depth marma point training:
  • Ayurveda's perspective on marma point therapy
  • Weekly body awareness exercises including all major marma points.
  • Therapeutic uses of individual marma points.

Prerequisites for Enrollment

Students entering this course should already have a working knowledge of Ayurveda's general medical models, as well as a basic modern understanding of disease (See the Ayurvedic Health Counselor and Ayurvedic herbalist courses at Joyful Belly).

This advanced course is also available to students who are already trained in the basic biocharacteristic medical models of Chinese or Greek Medicine (herbal energetics).

Who Should Apply?

  • Ayurvedic Health Counselors seeking certification on the Ayurveda Practitioner Level.
  • Other health & wellness professionals who are already familiar with Ayurveda's basic medical model (dosha, guna, taste, elements, dhatu, srotamsi, etc) but who would like certification as a Panchakarma Cleanse Specialist, or Marma Point Technician.
