This includes enema, purgation of the intestines, induced vomiting, ear, nose, and throat cleansing, and bloodletting. The course outlines the indications, contraindications, administration, troubleshooting, preparation, and post-procedural care for each technique, ensuring you're prepared for any situation.

You'll explore external Panchakarma procedures such as sweat therapy, oleation, massage, fomentation, and external bastis of the eye, back, and other body areas. Additionally, your course covers a range of spa treatments for hair, skin, eyes, stress relief, and mental wellbeing.

Master Marma Point Therapy: A Key Component of Holistic Healing

A vital part of the program is the focused training on marma point therapy. Marma points, as conceptualized in Ayurveda, are specific points on the body where imbalances are concentrated. They are pivotal junctions of the body where two or more types of tissue meet, such as muscles, veins, ligaments, bones or joints. When correctly manipulated, these points can influence circulation, alignment, and flow in the body, promoting healing and rejuvenation.

In this program, you will delve into the theory and application of Marma therapy. You will learn to identify all major Ayurveda marma points on the body, understanding their benefits, indications, and contraindications. With hands-on training, you will learn how to administer marma therapy effectively, ensuring you can provide an all-encompassing therapeutic experience for your clients. Gain a fresh perspective on interpreting common medical tests like blood, urine, electrolyte, kidney, and liver tests from an Ayurvedic viewpoint. Our program provides a unique blend of Ayurvedic diagnostic skills and basic western medical assessment tools to help you create an integrated, comprehensive treatment plan.

Schedule & Format

This 24 month program is entirely online, and does not require any travel. Class starts end of August, with 14 holiday weeks and summer break per year. Students should expect to spend 4-6 hours a week in study, on average.

Clinical Skills & Competency

By graduation you will be able to:
  • Administer Advanced Ayurveda Panchakarma Cleansing techniques
    • Administer and provide the benefits of advanced panchakarma cleansing treatments.
  • Read medical tests from an Ayurveda perspective including blood, urine, electrolyte, kidney, and liver tests.
  • Assess the compatibility of, and recommend, 50 common nutraceuticals.
  • Speak with authority regarding classical Ayurveda methods from ancient texts.
    • Assess the 30 major disease patterns of Ayurveda and their subtypes from an classical Ayurvedic perspective.
    • Provide natural remedies of the above patterns from the Ayurveda canon, and know common herbal strategies for each one
    • Research and utilize information from ancient texts to support and develop your clinical practice.
    • Understand frequently used Ayurvedic sanskrit terms

Sanskrit

The sanskrit module will give you a greater facility reading both ancient and modern textbooks. As classical texts were written in Sanskrit, and modern Ayurvedic authors frequently use sanskrit terms, this module is essential. It includes
  • Sanskrit medical vocabulary, and other common vocabulary
  • How to read transliterated Sanskrit
  • Common word formations, and what to expect regarding the joining of words and letters
  • Common prefixes, suffixes, and other basic tips that will make reading transliterated sanskrit much easier.

Prerequisites for Enrollment

Students entering this course should already have a working knowledge of Ayurveda's general medical models, as well as a basic modern understanding of disease (See the Ayurvedic Health Counselor and Ayurvedic herbalist courses at Joyful Belly).

This advanced course is also available to students who are already trained in the basic biocharacteristic medical models of Chinese or Greek Medicine (herbal energetics).

Who Should Apply?

  • Ayurvedic Health Counselors seeking certification on the Ayurveda Practitioner Level.
  • Other health & wellness professionals who are already familiar with Ayurveda's basic medical model (dosha, guna, taste, elements, dhatu, srotamsi, etc) but who would like certification as a Panchakarma Cleanse Specialist, or Marma Point Technician.
