Enjoy adventure, good food and the relaxed island vibe on our two island excursions to Little Stirrup Cay and Nassau.
- Little Stirrup Cay - Carnival will provide hammocks, chaise lounges, and a buffet style barbecue for our Friday excursion on Little Stirrup. So relax and enjoy the white sandy beaches, and turquoise blue waters of the Caribbean.
- Nassau - Tour the capital city of the Bahamas for a unique cultural experience. Enjoy shops, cafes and Caribbean style cuisine as you explore this tropical paradise. Bright colors and Spanish Colonial style architecture greet you at every turn. Choose from diverse activities such as as parasailing, jetskiing, or tour the magical city of Atlantis
Presentations will be followed by exercises and group discussion to explore how the topic applies to you. You will also be given practices to explore, journaling assignments, and simple exercises you can practice throughout the cruise to facilitate your personal discovery process. We will discuss the results of your observations together as a group.
You'll also receive a supplementary list of book recommendations for those wishing to explore topics introduced over the weekend. Recommended breathing and simple stretching exercises will greatly facilitate your personal progress.
SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEK
The cruise will leave out of Charleston, South Carolina on Friday, March 4th at 4pm. We will begin our time with an orientation at 5pm followed by a group dinner on the evening of departure at 6:30pm.
Saturday will begin exploration in the morning before lunch, and then will continue with lectures in the afternoon. You will have the evenings off to enjoy your time on the cruise to enjoy with family, friends, and other cruise participants.
Sunday you will have the day off to explore the island Little Stirrup Cay.
Monday, we will spend the day together in Nassau on the beach, enjoying local foods, and exploring the landscape with the group. Each evening, once we return to the ship, we will be sharing a meal with the group and Joyful Belly staff members.
Tuesday, we will give closing lectures, exploratory exercises, and share final thoughts.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM INSTRUCTORS
John Immel is the founder of leading Ayurvedic dieting website JoyfulBelly.com. He studied Ayurveda under Dr. Vasant Lad and in India. At his clinic in Asheville, North Carolina John coaches clients on the relationship between illness and emotions. John started his career with a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Harvard University. He experienced Ayurveda for the first time while working on public health and service projects in South Asia and the Middle East. He is fluent in Bengali and a student of Sanskrit, the ancient language of Ayurveda.
Natalie Immel received her 600 hour certification in Ayurveda at the Asheville School of Massage and Yoga, and received her 500 hour certification through the Master Ayurvedic Nutrition and Digestion Program at Joyful Belly Ayurveda. She specializes in cleansing and detoxification therapies, and is well versed in western nutrition. She earned her undergraduate degree in Religious Studies at Vassar College where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with honors. Natalie used the principles of Ayurveda to heal from severe anorexia which at one time left her hospitalized. She now offers her insights to help other young women find freedom from eating disorders. Natalie is fluent in Swedish, and is an avid student of yoga.
