I like umeboshi plums both dried and picked. I eat dried ones with lemon or orange halves, when I start to feel under the weather with early cold or flu symptoms. The umeboshi plums are very salty and sour. Pickled plums are tasty in a rice ball. It serves as a preservative to keep the rice from fermenting. It's usually a condiment when eating Japanese food.
