Heather Vaughan, CAy, RYT
Ayurvedic PractitionerExpertise: Anxiety / Stress
Albuquerque, NM United States
Chronic pain, impaired mobility and a challenging immune disorder inspired Heather to pursue Ayurveda as a professional career after 14 years of studying and teaching yoga. Her condition, called ankylosing spondolytis, is seemingly incurable by western methods. Through years of dedicated personal practice and research she fully restored her health. From near immobility to a life of service for others, she now offers her clinical skills to clients equally in need.
Heather earned her degree at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico with Dr. Vasant Lad. She continued her studies with Dr. Claudia Welch, Sonia Masocco, and many other inspiring teachers both nationally and in India, where she served clients in a clinical studies program. Prior to her tenure at Joyful Belly, Heather provided Ayurvedic consultations alongside Dr. Eric Grasser at an Integrative Family Clinic called Unity Medicine in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Training in Chinese medicine, western herbalism, skin care, & energy points augment Heather's Ayurvedic practice, as well as years of experience in a clinical setting. The nature of Ankylosing spondylitis is such that it attacks the nervous system, giving Heather unique insight into anxiety, chronic pain, exhaustion, and other seemingly debilitating conditions.
A lover of whole foods & cooking, and ceaseless intrigue into biology and anatomy fuel Heathers ongoing pursuit of solutions that improve the health of her clients, and her personal capacity to serve. She was born in Central California, loves music and her new home in Asheville, NC.
