Table of ContentsHow Does This Ayurvedic Herb Supplement Improve Wellness?CLINICAL AYURVEDIC REVIEWAmalaki is one of the three ingredients in the most widely used Ayurvedic formula - Triphala. Considered a general panacea for almost all imbalances, Triphala is excellent for detoxifying and rejuvenating the body. Amalaki is generally taken in place of Triphala by those with excess heat in the digestive tract. This may be indicated by gastritis, colitis, ulcers, heartburn or acid reflux. Working to expel excess heat from the body, Amalaki acts as a natural anti inflammatory that soothes and protects the tissues of the digestive tract. It gently detoxifies the body by purifying the blood and supporting healthy, regular elimination.
Amalaki is also a potent rejuvenative for the entire body. It is said to stimulate the production of red blood cells, enhance cellular regeneration, increase lean body mass and support proper function of the liver, spleen, heart and lungs. It has also been used to improve eyesight, strengthen the bones and teeth, and cause hair and nails to grow. It improves the digestive fire, maintains a healthy blood sugar level and is a rich natural source of antioxidants.
Amalaki is the main ingredient in the traditional Ayurvedic jam called chyavanprash. This tasty remedy has been used for centuries as a way to deliver the healing benefits of Amalaki deep into the tissues. For more information on chyavanprash click here.
A traditional rejuvenative used to cleanse and nourish the bodily tissues. Balancing for all doshas, especially Pitta.*

How would one use the fresh amalaki. I have seen it in Indian grocery stores
You can simply eat it. Often Indian groceries stores will have dried ones as well.
Amalaki is generally cooling to the bowels. I'd be happy to do a consultation with you concerning your sister since there are many other variables involved. Thanks!
I started taking amalaki and have LOVED the benefits on my skin, but I noticed that it seems a bit constipating. Is this a normal side effect to Amalaki? It's been great otherwise.
Helps me and my family to refresh and clean our body. Like taste and feeling during drinking the Amalaki as well post effect My rate is 5 stars
I have a silent reflux and every time I take even 1/4 tsp in warm water, my voice becomes more hoarse. :( I read Amalaki is supposed to help with reflux but anything sour aggrevates my throat. Any advice on how to make it less acidic?
It sounds like this is not the right herb for you. I suggest working with your doctor or practitioner to find a better fit.
