One can transcend depression, bitterness, skepticism, and pessimism with a solid foundation for hope.

While reading "Faith, Hope, and Love" by Joseph Pieper, I (John) discovered a spirit of hopelessness within me that was exhausting me. I realized just how much of my energy was devoted to fighting my feeling of hopelessness and failure, paradoxically by struggling and striving for personal glory. Within 48 hours of releasing the grip this spirit had on me, my skin as brighter, I had much more energy, and I felt much happier.

Hope, ultimately, is the faith that you are blessed. Blessed by what? By the source of all being and reality. True hope is only possible when reality has a hopeful design.

This source of all nature and creation, commonly called God, is the only possible source of true hope. Any other possible source could provide hope in only a contingent, temporary, or ungrounded way.

Rationally, hope is only possible if you believe that such a God loves you, intervenes in creation in a very personal way, and overcomes death.

For these reasons, Christianity has a particular well-developed foundation of hope. Jesus' powerful message of hope and love (transcending death, even a shameful death on a cross, and offering salvation) is why Christianity is known as the religion of hope.

But do you believe the Christian foundation of hope is real, or is it something Christians have imagined? For any source of true hope, confidence in the source is essential to experience the fruits of hope - relaxation, fortitude, and stable happiness. This confidence is built through right worship, study and understanding.

Hope and love even in the worst of circumstances can bring healing. Hope allows us to acceptance God's will with recognition that the plan of the Creator (naturally & necessarily) is the best good of all.

DOSHAS

The Three Doshas / Body Types
