AYURVEDA PERSPECTIVE ON BIRTH CONTROL PILL (PAST OR CURRENT)

The birth control pill is a contraceptive used to prevent pregnancy. Some forms increase progesterone and estrogen to trick your body into thinking it is pregnant when it does not. Others are abortifascent, preventing implantation of a fertilized egg. There are many forms of birth control pills.

Hormonal birth control has been shown to have numerous long term negative effects. Among these include:

• Low progesterone after discontinuing (causing lower fertility)

How Hormonal Birth Control and Emotions

Hormonal birth control increases oxytocin. Oxytocin is known as the tribal hormone. It aids with bonding to those closest to you (such as your baby), and increases hostility to those outside of your circle (people who disagree with you). On a societal scale, oxytocin could be a factor in increased polarization.

High prolactin levels while on birth control can also increase hostility.

How Hormonal Birth Control Affects Your Sexuality

Use of hormonal birth control affects sexual preferences. Studies have show that women prefer more effeminate looking men while taking the birth control pill. Use of the birth control pill also affects your attractiveness. Hormonal birth control suppresses the ovulation phase of your cycle, when you are most attractive.

After The Pill

Much like in adolescence, it may take several months to a few years for your body to recalibrate hormone levels after stopping hormonal birth control.
