• Boils are small, painful, red, and swollen lumps that develop in a hair follicle or oil gland. They are often filled with pus.
• Carbuncles are a more severe form of a boil, they are clusters of boils that are connected under the skin and are often larger and more painful.
• Abscesses are pockets of pus that develop in the body's tissues, and can occur anywhere in the body. Unlike boils and carbuncles, which are limited to the skin, abscesses can affect internal organs as well.

Treatment typically involves draining the infected area and possibly taking antibiotics.
