EATING WITHOUT REALIZING IT
WHAT DOES IT DO TO YOU? HOW CAN YOU MINIMIZE NEGATIVE EFFECTS?
Are you prone to a problem with 'Eating without realizing it'?
Eating happens. Food calms you down when you feel overwhelmed, stressed, or hazed, which can create an almost instinctive impulse to reach for a snack, even when you're calm, when life and your diet are going swimmingly well for you.
Two elements, when combined, lead to the perfect storm of unconscious eating. One, food must be within reach or easy to get. Two, you must be distracted, pre-occupied, or half-awake. Watching TV, your hand invisibly dips into the popcorn bowl. The sandwich you don't remember eating at the stoplight on the way to a meeting: what did it taste like? The piece of cake you ate, semi-slumbering, in the middle of night.
Whenever food is within easy reach, as soon as you're distracted or not paying attention, you'll find your hand snatching a few bites. Food is too tempting, especially if it is sweet or delicious. Exhaustion, emotions, eating while half asleep in the middle of the night, and many other factors also lower your resistance to eating, to the point where you eat only semi-conscious of what you are doing.
Yet, eating without realizing it can make you suffer from eating foods you don't really want, or larger portions. Ayurveda suggests that removing distractions and paying full attention while eating is the best weight loss program.
If you struggle with unconscious, mindless eating, keep snack food in hard to get places, such as a place in the cupboard that requires a stool to reach. If you find yourself standing around the kitchen or in front of the fridge, just sitting down somewhere away from food can draw you out of the moment and brings awareness to the unconscious impulse.
Establish eating habits before they get out of control. A good technique might be to make yourself sit down whenever you start to eat something. You might also try taking a few deep breaths, drinking a glass of water, making a cup of tea, going for a walk, or calling a friend. Experiment and find a method of reawakening awareness that works well for you.
It is important to recognize that eating without realizing it is a form of emotional eating , although it may not be immediately apparent. Any maladaptive relationship with food that seems emotionally or unconsciously motivated is worth your attention and exploration. Discovering why you tend to eat without realizing it can lead to profound personal insights and increased self knowledge of your emotions and general well-being.

Potential causes increase and disturb your imbalanced doshas and qualities, causing them to accumulate and spiral out of control. As a dosha or quality accumulates in your body according to your dietary and lifestyle habits, it is more and more likely to cause disease. HOW AYURVEDA WORKSARE YOU WONDERING HOW AYURVEDA CAN HELP YOU?
WHY IS AYURVEDA THE RIGHT SOLUTION?Ayurveda strengthens the body, in addition to addressing the disorder. It take a holistic, systemic approach, instead of myopically focusing on the disorder in question. Ayurveda shows a person how to interpret signs and symptoms of imbalance, and how to address them using materials from home, so they can optimize their health on a continual basis. You can't take the doctor home with you, but you can take Ayurveda home with you. Ayurveda is the most advanced and easy to use home system for self healing with an exceptional focus on digestion.
HOW DOES AYURVEDA WORK?Ayurveda starts by identifying your body type, which identifies certain tendencies in your body to get sick (as well as identifying your strengths). It uses body type to determine the likely root causes of your disorders. Next, Ayurveda analyzes the nature of your disorder. It fits all your signs and symptoms into a pattern, expressed as a combination of gunas / qualities. For example, you may have a heat disorder, a cold disorder, or an oily disorder, etc. This simple categorical approach shows you how to correct systemic imbalances and strengthen your body as a whole.
On Joyful Belly, we've created an extensive categorization of food so you can easily match food to your imbalances (gunas). By eating an optimal diet that balances your gunas, your whole body is strengthened and the conditions that created the disorder are removed. Once the root causes of the disease are removed, the disease lessens in strength or disappears altogether. Additional remedies - such as herbs and lifestyle practices - focused on the specific disorder, can greatly enhance your healing.
