AYURVEDA PERSPECTIVE ON GRIEF

Grieving is the process of tempering ones passions back to reality as it is.

"God saw all that he had made, and it was very good." (Genesis 1:31).

Once the grieving process is complete, a person rests in this truth.

But how can we call the world good even though there is evil in the world? All change requires the loss of one thing, and gaining of another. If God had made a world without evil, it would be a world where change is impossible.

Instead, He chose to give us free will, and to live in a dynamic world. This has an unfortunate side effect, of causing difficulty, pain and loss.

The unwillingness to accept pain, suffering, and loss is called indignation. It sounds like, "I can't believe this happened to me."

Such emotions are rooted in pride. Do we imagine we are above all suffering? Do we imagine that, like God, no sorrow can touch us?

Grief has 5 stages:

• Denial
• Anger
• Bargaining
• Depression
• Acceptance

All that we have received in this world is a temporary gift. We should rather rejoice that we received this gifts at all, instead of harboring resentment surrounding their loss.

It is natural to appreciate the good of what you have lost, and to feel the natural sadness that flows from this true appreciation of a gift that has been taken from us.

Nevertheless, our passions for sadness must be subordinate to our passions for true life itself. We must return to the wonder and amazement of the goodness of life itself, and its source, a practice called adoration.

True emotional freedom rests in this goodness, certain that the author of life loves you. One of the most wonderful truths of the Christian faith is the love that Jesus has for you. Isn't it wonderful that true life itself is a person that loves you?

He overcame death, and therefore we have a reason to hope.

AVOID ACCUMULATION IN STAGE OF DISEASE 0

Potential causes increase and disturb your imbalanced doshas and biocharacteristics, causing them to accumulate and spiral out of control. For example, if you're overheated and eat a chili pepper, heat may become excessive and cause disease. As a dosha or biocharacteristic accumulates in your body according to your dietary and lifestyle habits, it is more and more likely to cause disease. You can reduce an imbalanced dosha or biocharacteristic in two ways, by removing, or lessening the frequency of aggravating causes from your diet and lifestyle, as well as by favoring balancing diet and lifestyle practices. Imbalance Accumulates

Improper food and lifestyle causes balances to accumulate. Ayurveda shows you exactly which doshas and biocharacteristics are likely to accumulate in your body. Once these doshas and biocharacteristics accumulate too much, they will begin to cause imbalance. You can reduce an imbalanced dosha or biocharacteristic by removing things that aggravate it from your diet and lifestyle.
