As soon as temperatures begin to drop in the fall, your body wants sweets. These sweets congest the blood and create sensitivity to pollen. Fall indigestion, a common problem, creates toxicity that increases the sensitivity of your mucus membranes.

Allergies may be a consequence of chronic underlying inflammation (of the skin, lungs, or digestive tract) that exposes the immune system to allergens. For example, a respiratory infection can cause the immune system to overreact to dust or other particles when they contact inflamed surfaces. A gut infection can cause immune system contact with normal foods, triggering allergies.

A chronic viral or fungal infection (e.g. Epstein Barr, Herpes, toenail fungus, etc) may put the immune system on high alert, triggering hypersensitivity. Antivirals and antifungals can clear these immune triggers.

The immune system may be triggered into high alert by toxins in the blood. Alteratives, detoxicants, diuretics, and hepatoprotectives can strengthen the body's ability to reduce toxins. The source of the toxins (often fermentation in the gut) should be eliminated as well.
