"Hello John,
I've been so pleased to be able to connect with you and the Joyful Belly clinic. I feel as though, of all the members of the health-team for my digestive condition, I've gotten the most helpful information from YOU. I have been following the diet advice, many soups (kale, carrot, chix broth, etc), have nearly rid myself of wheat and completely have not touched dairy (save for clarified butter which Christopher helped me make at home). I have been eating soft fruit or cranberry juice alone (between meals), and have stayed away from spinach, tomatoes, refined sugar and the things we talked about.
I've been feeling some better. The gas/bloating has much lessened. I feel healthier making more conscious choices of how to eat (though depriving myself of dairy has been the most difficult--- I honestly believe its been the most helpful of all the dietary changes)."
"We' be been making dandelion pesto as a pizza base and it is wonderful . I'm looking forward to trying this tea recipe. Thank you John for teaching us to eat the weeds!!!"
"John's passion for food, cooking, and assisting others is absolutely contagious and his kind, gentle way of teaching the principles of Ayurvedic cooking make it easy to fall in love with them. I personally was very inspired by the workshop and look forward to continuing this process of learning and getting well."
"You make ayurveda fun. It is easier to learn when fun. A big thank you. This is the sign of a good teacher. Thank you also for making me laugh."
"I wish to expand upon our conversation regarding you as a teacher.
You are a good instructor because you create an atmosphere where the student wishes to learn; this is the mark of a great teacher. Good teachers are born, not created. You add humor to your classes making it easier to remember some of the details. Your presentations are concise, to the point, and in a good order for better understanding. Going off the subject occasionally with a short story relieves the brain, a thing some instructors forget about.
You're a good person, John, and a good instructor; lord knows I've had enough of them along with professors. I expect details, explanations, and fullness of the subject matter and permission to speak up with questions. The idea of teaching is for people to understand to the point they no longer need you.
Be kind to yourself and
Know you are loved,

"Hey John! I just want to thank you again for the really awesome class yesterday. You really helped put things in a great perspective for me, and it's truly opened up a whole new level of healing and being for me. Thank you so much! You are very inspirational, motivating and grounding!"
"I feel so much more confident working with my healthy eating/living clients, and my cleanse programs have grown to incorporate more personalized plans and a focus on digestive health as the root of balanced health. Im excited to have more knowledge and tools to serve my clients!"
"yes! I do feel better."
"it only makes sense that knowledge that is over 4 thousand years old, designed to work harmoniously WITH our bodies and the natural world is effective, with minimal (ACTUALLY NONE!) negative effects. The PRICE for this is that the *patient *has to accept responsibility and *actively participate *in his recovery--(rather than the horrific 'Take this pill, and never mind the side effects' method of 'modern' medicine)"
"One of the most important things you said is not to follow a recipe so strictly. I was making something today, and had that in mind. It is freeing and something I need to feel and to know that I can actually let things flow - and it doesn't HAVE TO come out a certain way."
"John, I really enjoyed your cooking class and would be happy to attend more like it."
"I love your classes, John! I find you very inspirational. You have a glowing passion and simple wisdom about you. I love that your business is called Joyful Belly. That goes back to that cosmic giggle thing. I feel like your smile and enthusiasm is like a joyful belly - the radiance makes others smile and laugh! Your ability to pinpoint reality and human nature is just amazing. True medicine, and I truly appreciate you sharing!"
"Dear John,
Thank you for all of your email support. I'm feeling a lot better, much more grounded, balanced and am digesting better but still not putting on weight
just being patient w/ this and trying not to focus too much on it. My energy levels are much better. A friend suggested some rice protein for muscle gain. I'm doing a lot for digestion mentally, physically, and spiritually; studying Yoga of Herbs a lot and sticking to simple, easy to digest foods. If you have any ideas for weight gain I'm open to them. Thank you again so much for all the time, energy, and wisdom you've offered! I hope you're having a beautiful week!
Love and light,

"Thank you again for facilitating a wonderful evening....and sharing your poetry, just getting to reading it.....illustrates how our sharing and interacting with food/nature is an art."
"I made this the other morning for my toddler and I and we couldn't stop eating it , it was so good! We loved it. My mother used to put sugar on our grapefruit growing up...this is so much better!
"
"Thank you, John, for another fabulous class!!! I'm learning so much right now and love how these changes are impacting my body, my experience. I very much appreciate all that you are sharing with us and look forward to learning more. The food was awesome and I feel great today!"
"thanks so much for the wonderful class last night! Learned a lot and it's good right now for me to hear some things again and again, it's sinking in. You have a very light and playful way of presenting and you're funny! Makes the material, especially in an evening class, very easy to digest (hey, nice pun, eh?)!"
